The first leg in Nairobi was a thrilling back-and-forth contest, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the match. Uganda, initially trailing, found their rhythm just before halftime, edging ahead with a 14-12 lead.
However, the second half saw a strong push from Kenya, led by Brian Wahinya, who helped the Simbas build a 24-17 advantage. The Cranes fought back to close the gap to 27-25, but couldn’t break through Kenya’s defence in the final moments.
With only a two-point difference on aggregate, the return leg promises another fiercely contested battle. Fans are expected to fill the Kings Park Arena, rallying behind the Cranes in their quest for a comeback victory in the Elgon Cup.
