Egyptian Diplomat Ali Mohammed Rescued in Major Security Operation
Ugandan security forces have successfully rescued a senior Egyptian diplomat who was kidnapped weeks ago.
The Crime Directorate boss, Christopher Ddamulira, commended the coordinated efforts of the joint security teams in a statement following the diplomat’s rescue.
“Congratulations to the Joint Security Teams for a well-coordinated operation that has rescued a senior embassy diplomat this afternoon. You have made us proud as a country,” said Ddamulira.
“It is a reassurance to all Ugandans and all other people in the country that security forces will always do whatever possible to protect life and property.”
The diplomat, identified as Ali Mohammed, had gone missing several weeks ago.
Initial reports indicate that she was lured to Entebbe by a woman and subsequently kidnapped. She was then held in Luwero, a district approximately 60 kilometers north of the capital, Kampala.
Ddamulira affirmed that those involved in the kidnapping will be brought to justice, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to upholding safety and security within its borders.
The Ugandan security forces are expected to continue investigations to uncover further details about the kidnapping and identify any possible accomplices.
