AFCON 2025: Zimbabwe Geared Ahead of Kenya Clash
Zimbabwe national team head coach Michael Nees claims that the Warriors will take nothing for granted ahead of their upcoming fixture.
Zimbabwe will lock horns with Kenya in their all-important TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifier at Peter Mokaba Stadium this Friday.
“We’re looking forward to the match and like in every camp, we have to bring all the players together. We have three groups and the last group will arrive on Tuesday morning and then we have to get into gear very quickly.
“We are happy about that because we are we are in a good position. We want to have our fate in our own hands and the better the position the better [for us],” he said before adding.
“So, we achieved that, but that doesn’t mean that we should get complacent. We have to do the final step.”
“It is possible and the players showed good spirits in the first two camps, and I’m sure we will be able to do that now to achieve that,” he added.
Heading into the match, Zimbabwe find themselves in a favourable position in second place in Group J, just two points behind leaders Cameroon and four points ahead of their opponents, although a win over Kenya would all but seal their qualification for Morocco next year.
Despite their advantageous position, Nees says his side are fully focused on the task at hand and will leave nothing to chance.
