MTN Unveils ‘Market by MOMO’ to Revolutionise Digital Trade

In a move to bolster Uganda’s digital economy, MTN Uganda has launched Market by MOMO, a cutting-edge digital commerce platform aimed at connecting local sellers with buyers both within Uganda and across the globe.
Management at MTN says this initiative is powered by a strategic partnership with MasterCard, leveraging their global expertise in secure digital payments to create a seamless e-commerce experience.
Uganda’s digital economy is steadily advancing, driven by strategic initiatives and a growing emphasis on technology, with telecom giant MTN Uganda benchmarking on it to achieve customer satisfaction.
As part of its commitment to leading digital solutions for Uganda’s progress, MTN Group Fin Commerce, a subsidiary of MTN Fintech Group, in partnership with MTN MoMo Uganda and collaborating with MasterCard, has launched its new e-commerce platform, Market by MOMO, to offer Ugandan traders and buyers a seamless online selling and shopping experience.
The e-Commerce Country Lead at MTN Uganda, Brian Mutungi, says the platform offers a range of products under several categories, including groceries, electronics/appliances, devices and computers, toys and games, health and beauty, among others.
These products are being supplied by over 3,500 local businesses, boosting trade and employment opportunities for several Ugandans.

While the platform promises significant benefits, its success will depend on addressing challenges such as internet accessibility and digital literacy.
