Next Media Services has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing Uganda’s housing challenges with the launch of the sixth edition of the NBS Housing Baraza.

Scheduled to run from November 26 to 28 under the theme “A Home for Every Ugandan,” this year’s event aims to engage Ugandans in insightful discussions and explore practical steps to turn their dream homes into reality.

Speaking at the event, Joseph Kigozi, Deputy Group Chief Executive at Next Media Services, emphasised the organisation’s dedication to delivering impactful content that addresses national issues.

“Our theme for this year is ‘A Home for Every Ugandan.’ Among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we aspire to achieve, decent housing stands out. At Next Media, we aim to take this further by promoting affordable housing,” Kigozi stated.

The annual Housing Baraza brings together stakeholders from across the housing ecosystem to develop actionable solutions for Uganda’s housing crisis.

Kigozi highlighted the transformative power of media in shaping societal change, focusing this year’s edition on practical strategies.

“This year’s edition of #NBSHousingBaraza focuses on practical solutions. Media that is not transformational is short-lived. Our platform at NBS TV serves as a space for all players to share their stories and inspire action, especially among young people who need to harness these solutions,” he added.

Housing Finance Bank reiterated its commitment to promoting homeownership in Uganda through its continued partnership with Next Media Services.

Doreen Nyiramugisha, Head of Marketing and Communications at Housing Finance Bank, emphasised the bank’s unwavering support for the initiative.

“We have been with Next Media since the first edition, and they are now on the sixth edition. That is the only way we can demonstrate our commitment to fostering this journey of making sure that every Ugandan has a home,” Nyiramugisha noted.

Soliton Telmec Uganda, a leading network provider, also showcased its role in supporting the housing sector by building reliable and eco-friendly fiber optic infrastructure.

Irene Sebuliba, a representative of Soliton Telmec, revealed that the company has laid over 4,800 kilometers of fiber optic cable in Kampala, significantly contributing to Uganda’s digital transformation.

“The trajectory has changed over time. Homes are now being built with internet connectivity, which empowers people with information,” Sebuliba said.

She highlighted the importance of sustainable infrastructure in meeting the growing demand for reliable internet access, noting that Soliton Telmec works with various internet providers to ensure connectivity reaches homes and businesses.

“Where the world is moving today, there is more access to the internet in terms of reliability,” Sebuliba added.
