Police Investigate Murder and Assault at Nsambya Hospital

The Territorial Police in Katwe and Kabalagala are investigating the suspected murder of a one Joram Tumwesigye, 28, and related assault incidents at Nsambya Hospital.

 

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Tumwesigye was admitted to Nsambya Hospital on the night of November 19, brought in by six unidentified individuals.

 

He was pronounced dead an hour later.

 

“Our preliminary findings reveal that after the victim’s death, an individual identified as ‘Alien Skin’ demanded medical forms from the attending doctor,” said Owoyesigyire.

 

“When his demands were not met, he and his group assaulted the doctor, Dr Zaidi Matovu, and two security guards, Anthony Muyanda and Alex Odongo, before fleeing.”

 

Police have recorded statements from the victims and witnesses as part of their ongoing investigation.

 

Owoyesigyire assured the public that efforts to apprehend the suspects are underway.

 

“We are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and holding the perpetrators accountable,” he stated.

The incident has sparked concerns about security in medical facilities, with calls for strengthened measures to protect healthcare workers and patients.
