With the festive season fast approaching, police are intensifying efforts to crack down on crime, urging communities to stay alert and report suspicious activities. Officer Michael Kituuma has warned of an uptick in criminal behaviour, particularly home break-ins linked to drug abuse.
“As we step into the festive season, we have measures in place to monitor habitual offenders—especially those who consume marijuana and break into people’s homes,” Kituuma said.
In a call for community cooperation, Kituuma stressed the need for residents to report any suspicious individuals or activities that could threaten neighbourhood safety. “We urge the public to share any information about such categories of people,” he added.
To bolster security, law enforcement agencies have ramped up patrols and surveillance in residential areas, markets, and public spaces. The police are also working closely with local leaders and community watch groups to strengthen vigilance and deter criminal activity.
Authorities have advised residents to secure their homes, avoid displaying valuables, and limit cash storage during this period. Kituuma assured the public that all reports would be handled confidentially, with prompt action taken to address any threats.
As part of a broader strategy to ensure public safety, the police are encouraging open communication and proactive reporting throughout the festive season. “Together, we can ensure a safe and peaceful holiday for everyone,” Kituuma concluded.
