Teachers from across the country have gathered for the 19th Annual Delegates Conference of the Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU). This marks the first time the conference is being hosted in Kabale Municipality.

The event is being held under the theme “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”

Philbert Baguma, General Secretary of the Uganda National Teachers Union, confirms that every year they hold a national delegates conference that brings together teacher leaders from across the country. He notes that over 178 local governments are represented.

“We are here to discuss and make an evaluation of what they have done in the year 2024 as well as forging a way forward for the coming year,” Baguma states.

Baguma further says that the conference will run today and tomorrow.

This is a developing story and Nile post will be bringing more details.
