UPL: Kitara beat UPDF to end winless run

Kitara FC finally returned to winning ways after beating UPDF 4-0 in  a StarTimes Uganda Premier League match played at the Royals Park on Friday.

 

Living Kabon with a brace and Fred Amaku together with Denis Omedi , each with a goal ensured it rained goals at the Royals Park as Kitara registered their first home win of the season.

 

The hosts broke the deadlock only after 14 minutes, thanks to Fred Amaku who converted a spot kick before Kabon doubled their lead,  10 minutes later .

 

 

Kabon was back it taking the game beyond reach when he scored at the stroke of half time.

 

The first stanza ended with the home side commanding the game and in the driving seat and enthusiastic fans continued doing what they know best as things moved their team’s way.

 

Denis Omedi hit the last nail in the army side’s coffin to make it 4nil but also ensure Kitara recorded their first win in nine games.

 

Kitara FC fans couldnt hide their excitement and heaping praises on their new coach, Wasswa Bbosa, they christened a saviour.

 

Speaking after the game, the tactician said the win is the first of so many to come.

 

“We are not the team people knew that was losing. You must have seen a lot of changes in the pitch. Yes, we are here to make magical wonders, our prayer is our fans not to give up, they are our 12th player,” he said

 

“When you look at the margin of the team’s on table, the points are not much. The  league has  just started and  we are going to do our best to be competitive .Don’t be surprised if we lift the trophy.”

 

Commenting about the loss, UPDF FC coach, Paul Kiwanuka credited his opponents for a job well done.

 

“Kitara played well, they deserve the win, but of course we came here to fetch points unfortunately that has not happened, we will organize our house.”

 

Kitara have now moved two places to 14th on seven points.
